The image Stallone shared from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a selfie potentially taken during a break in filming, and it showed the actor suited up. However, someone at Marvel Studios may not have wanted fans to see Stallone’s new look just yet, because the image is now missing.

The caption all but confirms the return of Stakar Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a high-ranked officer of the Ravagers. “Yes, what’s coming your way? Keep Your guard up! #guardiansofthegalaxyvol3,” it reads. Before Stallone took the image off his Instagram account, fan reactions had been pouring in, with many sharing their excitement at Ogord’s return. In the image, Stallone sports Ogord’s blue flight jacket, complete with all the gold trimmings, accessories, and zippers, along with a Ravagers logo sewn into the shoulder area. His hair is combed back and a lot more grey than when he first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Stallone joined the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Ogord, a member of the Ravagers who exiles Michael Rooker’s Yondu. As part of the post-credits scene, fans saw him reunite with some of his former teammates, for a secret mission. Ever since the film was released, fans have been wondering if Stallone will be returning to reprise his role in Vol. 3. There was a lot of chatter around his return sometime last year, when director James Gunn hinted at a 2021 filming date.

Last week, Gunn had shared an image taken on set that showed many of the returning cast members and the new ones to join specifically for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, Stallone was missing in action, and many fans wondered if he would in fact be returning. But, they have nothing to fear as Stallone’s image has eliminated all doubts of Ogord’s return.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to premiere in theatres on May 23, 2023.
