Vitidsarn, who is no more than 18 years of age had previously ousted Rahul Yadav Chittaboina and then, B. Sai Praneeth to finally meet Verma for the quarters. A three-time Junior World Champion and the reigning Asian Junior Champion, the Thai player’s journey in Lucknow was brought to an end by Verma. In 40 minute clash, Verma got the better off Vitidsarn 21-19, 21-16.
The winner of two Super 100 series this year in Hyderabad and Vietnam, Sourabh Verma has looked composed and collected throughout the tournament. His challenge for the semis comes in the form of Korean Heo Kwang Hee. The 24-year-old player from Korea will try and stop Verma from getting past him today but given Verma’s form, it seems highly possible that the opposite will happen. With India’s remaining hope in men’s singles banking on Sourabh Verma, he will have a lot to do in today’s semifinal to make it to the last two.
