Sweeney tearfully called her mother when she found out she was nominated in two categories.
Sweeney was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Cassie in the HBO series, Euphoria. She got a second nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for portraying Olivia in another HBO show, The White Lotus.
“what a morning! thank you so much to the @televisionacad for my emmy nominations! It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have connected with so many. I’m so proud of both these shows and grateful to everybody that’s been apart of them. But most importantly mom, I love you, we did it through the ups and downs,” she wrote in her Instagram post.
Fans of Sweeney were also rejoicing on social media over her nominations.

“Sydney Sweeney deserves to win that Emmy idc,” exclaimed another.
“The video of Sydney Sweeney on the phone with her mom literally made me tear up she deserves this [so much],” one fan said.
A Twitter user explained, “she literally killed it in #euphoria idc what anyone says, this was well deserved. The way she brought The character Cassie to light every season is really amazing. Her acting is on a whole different timing, she been killing the game since the beginning, she one of the best in the industry RIGHT NOW!”
