Sure, there are some exercises that you should avoid, but working out is good for you and your baby. Sweat and FitOn are both excellent apps that feature pregnancy-safe workouts. Read on to find out which workout app is best for you.

What Is the Sweat App?

Sweat aims to make working out at the gym or at home as trouble-free as possible. And although it’s not completely free to use, it is possibly one of the best fitness apps targeted at women.

Founded by Australian personal trainer Kayla Itsines, Sweat boasts a massive variety of over 40 workout programs. The programs range from full-body HIIT and lifting at home to Pilates and yoga. However, Sweat is also home to several postnatal and prenatal programs.

Besides the workout programs, the Sweat app features a healthy eating plan, a workout planner, activity tracking, and a community of like-minded people. Explore the key features of this app and how they can satisfy you during pregnancy.

Sweat Pregnancy Workouts

Whatever your lifestyle, Sweat has tons of options when it comes to workout programs. There is truly a program suited for everyone, including two post-pregnancy programs and two programs to help you stay active during pregnancy.

Trainers Kayla and Kelsey lead both sets of beginner-friendly pregnancy programs. The 40-week pregnancy programs deliver 20- to 30-minute low-intensity workouts that progress with your pregnancy. You can easily browse through the workout collection if you’re in no hurry to commit to any one pregnancy program.

Sweat Community Forum

One of the best aspects of the Sweat app is the Community tab. You can find blog posts here covering various topics, educational articles, and the forum itself. The forum is a great place to connect with others who are on a similar pregnancy journey.

You can even filter through the community forum using categories, such as if you’re looking for posts relating to mums and families. In addition, you can create your own post to share your experiences and possibly even get some advice.

The Sweat Planner and Activity

Sweat’s planner allows you to fully track all your daily workouts that are a part of your chosen plan. You can also log any additional workouts that you’ve completed. Simply tap the plus icon and include a summary of the workout along with any important notes. Furthermore, you can track your daily step count by connecting the app’s step tracker to your phone’s health data.

The Activity tab is where you can find your personal goals, achievements, and progress. The goals are automatically set for you based on what program you’re doing. As an example, the pregnancy program with Kayla includes a weekly goal of two recovery sessions.

Recovery can be essential during pregnancy as it lets your changing body rest and recover. However, you do have the freedom to personalize any of your goals to your liking.

Sweat Daily Meal Planner

Eating healthy and nutritious meals is easy with Sweat’s daily meal planner and shopping list. The amount of meals and snacks throughout the day is set at three meals as well as morning and afternoon snacks. Additionally, you can even set personal dietary restrictions, including vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian options.

Be aware that the recipes and quantities are not catered for pregnancy. If you want to use the daily meal planner you will need to know what you can and cannot eat while you’re pregnant. As an example, it’s best to avoid a meal like sushi with tuna.

What Is the FitOn App?

FitOn is a fitness app that offers plenty of variety when it comes to workouts. Although some features of the app are exclusive to the Pro subscription, all of the workouts are completely free.

Although FitOn isn’t specifically aimed at providing fitness content for women, it has a large variety of prenatal and postnatal workouts to help you lose the baby weight. The collection of workout classes on the FitOn app range from strength and quick HIIT workouts to self-defense and even exercise classes for the whole family.

What sets FitOn apart is that celebrities and celebrity trainers teach many of the classes. You can work on your upper body with Gabrielle Union or try some morning meditation with the D’Amelio sisters, for instance. Read on to find out what features the FitOn app has to offer you during and after pregnancy.

FitOn Pregnancy Workouts

If you’re looking for a workout that’ll suit your changing body, then FitOn is the app for you. To access the pregnancy workouts, simply navigate to the Workouts tab, and browse through the selection of on-demand categories. Here, there are tons of options to choose from, whether you’re pregnant or not.

To narrow your search down even more, use the search bar and sort through the workouts based on intensity, trainer, equipment, target area, or how much time you have. Within each workout session, you can view the total time, intensity, and equipment needed.

FitOn Friends

FitOn features a community feed that is just perfect if you’re lacking motivation. Invite friends to join from your contacts list and social media platforms or simply find some new friends on the app. Furthermore, you can join community groups for fellow parents or groups that focus on subjects like meal prep, recipes, gaining muscle, and so much more.

Feel free to create a post of your own to share your progress, updates, or a question you need an answer to. Alternatively, you can get involved by liking, commenting, or sharing others’ posts.

FitOn Progress and Advice

It’s easy to track your weekly workout progress using FitOn. The app provides a full breakdown of your weekly and monthly workouts, time, and calories burned. Additionally, there’s now a streak feature that adds that extra bit of encouragement.

When you need that extra push, FitOn offers plenty of advice based on your fitness goals. There are tons of interesting articles and videos that cover topics ranging from mental health to nutrition. There are also helpful tips straight from the trainers themselves.

FitOn Meals

During pregnancy, it’s important to take special care of your nutrition. After all, you’re eating for two! FitOn’s personalized meal plans can cater to your needs, whether you struggle with stress eating, follow a strict diet, or lack time to cook.

You have the option to set how many main meal and snack recipes you want to receive per day. To ensure your meal plan matches your changing body, edit your fitness goal and set it to either prenatal fit or postnatal fit. You can find this option in your account settings.

Which Health and Fitness App Is Better When You’re Pregnant?

Sweat is the ideal workout app for all fitness levels, especially if you want to keep up your physical activity during and after pregnancy. The app gives you a free seven-day trial, but thereafter if you don’t sign up for a plan the app’s content is limited.

On the other hand, FitOn is a better option because of all the free content it offers, including a lot more pregnancy-focused workouts. There are a couple of features that require you to upgrade to FitOn Pro, such as meals, live syncing with your fitness tracker, and FitOn Party. Yet, the app is still free to use, with access to all the pregnancy workout classes.
