Chapter 1 of Faith arrived in October 2017, introducing the terrifying story of protagonist and priest John Ward. An exorcism had gone terribly wrong and Ward returns to the location one year later. Fittingly, it took a bit more than a year for Faith Chapter 2 to arrive in February 2019. Chapter 2 reintroduces John Ward, as well as a new character named Father Garcia. In a dark reflection of the first chapter, Father Garcia fails an exorcism to start the game. Players have now been waiting for Chapter 3 for over three and a half years.

Players have now been rewarded for their patience, with Chapter 3 of Faith now fully available to play. John Ward returns in Faith Chapter 3, but there’s much more to discover therein. Publisher New Blood Interactive and developer Airdorf Games aren’t spoiling, saying only that Chapter 3 is twice the size of Chapter 2 and that it features an impressive 12 endings to discover.

Faith is now known as Faith: The Unholy Trinity, framed for horror gamers that may not be familiar with its previous chapter-based releases. New players will be able to begin at the very start and play through all three chapters consequently in Faith: The Unholy Trinity’s Marathon Mode. Returning players will have the option of jumping straight to Chapter 3. For those who want a taste of Faith before buying the full game, a demo remains available on Steam.

While the pitch of an indie survival horror game alone is enough to persuade many to try out Faith, it really is much more than its genre. The mix of strange and absurd pixel art, 1984 King’s Quest point-and-click adventuring, and intense cinematics make Faith unlike anything else available. It’s both retro and modern, and altogether quite frightening.

The launch version of Faith: The Unholy Trinity is available now for purchase on both Steam and itch.io. Its retail price is $14.99, though it can be purchased for 10% off through October 28. Those looking for a spooky horror game to play leading up to Halloween should give Faith a look.
