Just a week removed from Nintendo adding a new stage to the game, the new event will allow players to earn triple the amount of SP and earn a new item while completing spirit battles. The item will damage minion fighters during spirit battles starting this Friday and running through the weekend only. Despite the focus on spirits, no new spirits will be added to the game prior or during the event.

The new event is pretty in line with Nintendo’s Smash Bros. updates as of late since the release of Min Min from the Arms franchise to the game. As the first entry to the second season of the fighter pass, eager fans have waited for news on the next as-of-yet unannounced, character addition. Despite the promise of several fighters being added to the game in 2020, Nintendo has stated that Covid-19 has impacted internal development. The virus has caused many of its studios and partners to work from home, slowing things down, including work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in general.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has been dealing with a major leak issue lately with hundreds of source codes for older games being leaked online and revealing some unused assets, items and different designs of classic characters. Some leaks include different directions some well known characters almost went in older games, including some strange looks at characters that are now featured in Smash.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now for Nintendo Switch.
